Tournaments
Highlands Performance Volleyball tournament participation is mandatory.  Tournaments provide our athletes the chance to put training into action, develop their on court teamwork, compete at higher levels, and strengthen their knowledge of the game.  They also give the athlete a chance to be seen by college scouts.  The success of our team training and ability to perform and function as a full unit depends upon all members of the team being present.
Playing Time
The head coach is responsible for the lineup, substitution patterns and determining playing time.  Each athlete will receive equal training time and repetitions in practice sessions but we cannot and will not guarantee playing time for anyone.  It is in the best interest of the team that we compete for championships and it is likely that some players will not  play in some matches.  The head coaches will make their decisions based on a player's attendance at practices, the importance of an event, the player's attitude, work ethic, proficiency at required skills and most importantly, the team's needs.

As parents, please understand that our coaches do their best to get everyone playing time but their primary focus at tournaments is the team's success.  It is not conducive to a successful team environment if a coach is confronted during a tournament.  It is a parent's right to discuss and explore playing time with the head coach at an appropriate time and setting.  This conversation MUST NOT OCCUR AT THE TOURNAMENT.  Consequently, if a coach is confronted by a parent during a tournament, that parent's child must sit out the following match.  In short, please save these discussions until after the tournament.  We recommend a 24 hour "wait" to allow for the most productive conversation.

The following procedures are in place to resolve playing time issues or concerns:
  • A player may request a meeting with the coach; you should request a meeting time before or after practice or tournament or during teams break at a tournament.
  • If questions or concerns remain after that meeting then the player and parents may arrange a meeting with the coach at least one day after the conclusion of a tournament.
  • If the issue is still not resolved, the club director, coach, player and parents may meet.
Transportation
The club does not routinely provide transportation to tournaments.  Parents are responsible for transportation of their player to and from tournaments or to secure ride sharing duties with another parent.  With some possible exceptions for team travel, travel to and from overnight tournaments is the responsibility of the parents of each player.  All expenses for transportation, lodging, meals and personal items are the responsibility of each team member.

Coaches are not responsible to provide transportation and should not provide rides unless their own daughter is riding with them.  If other players are taken in the coaches' vehicles another parent should also ride with them.  Coaches travel expenses are paid through your club fees.

Club Travel Coordinator and Team Reps will be responsible for making transportation, lodging and dining arrangements (if necessary).  All arrangements will be made well in advance in order to secure the lowest rates.  The welfare of the whole team will be taken into consideration when making these decisions.

All players, coaches & chaperones are expected to stay at the same hotel and each team member must conduct themselves responsibly as representatives of Highlands Performance Volleyball.
Hotel Accommodations
It is the policy of Highlands Performance Volleyball that teams stay together in the same hotel when traveling. We cannot guarantee space or make reservations for parents, but our travel coordinator will ask hotels to hold a block of rooms until a specified date.  If you have not made a reservation by that date we cannot hold the room.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
Athletes should refrain from the use or possession of drugs or alcohol.  Failure to refrain from the use of drugs and alcohol will result in suspension or dismissal from the team.  The use of drugs or alcohol that involves charges by law enforcement or suspensions by school officials will be treated as a positive drug test and will result in dismissal from the team.
Prom Policy
We understand the importance of an event such as Prom; therefore, in the case of Prom falling on the weekend of a National Qualifying tournament, including the Region Bid tournament, we have implemented the following guidelines to allow SENIORS to attend their SENIOR prom.

It is unfair to a team that has devoted so many hours in practices only to be disqualified from a tournament or to not be given a chance to qualify for Nationals because a few players are gone.  It is also not fair to those who are seeking college scholarship and must be seen by college recruiters.

Each SENIOR will be allowed to attend their prom without consequence.  Here are the stipulations:  they need to be attend the day prior to and the day after the (main evening) PROM event.  If the Qualifier is in the Kansas City metropolitan area, they will need to be present the day of the event until 12 noon.
Payments
Upon acceptance of a position with Highlands Performance Volleyball, each family must sign a copy of the Financial Commitment Form.  You are responsible for paying the financial obligation as detailed on the Parental Financial Agreement and understand that, should my player leave the team, I am responsible for the full financial obligation.  Click here to access the Parental Financial Agreement.

Highlands Performance Volleyball will provide courtesy statements periodically; however, it is your responsibilty to keep up with all fees and payment schedules.  If a payment is late there will be a $25.00 late fee assessed and the athlete will not be able to participate in any sanctioned events until the payment is made.  Our payment schedule is as follows:
Payment # 1 is due at our Club-Wide Meeting (apx a week after tryouts).  Late fees will be assessed on 12/10/2011.
Payment # 2 is due on 1-1-2012.  Late fees will be assessed on 1/15/2012.

A $25.00 transaction fee will be assessed for each returned check and if the problem occurs twice, parents must pay by cash or cashier's check.

If an account is not paid in full, the participant's name may be submitted to HOA because she will have violated her "amateur status".

If there is some reason the payment cannot be made by the date specified, please contact Randy Condit and we will try to work out the situation.  Please know, once you commit to a team we incur several expenses whether you continue your season with the club or not.

If a player is injured and unable to return to the team any potential refund is handled on a case by case basis.  No refund greater than 15% of the total player fee is possible.  Other monies that are paid are non-refundable.

Highlands Performance Volleyball is not able to offer any financial assistance programs; however, in extenuating circumstances, payment plans may be negotiated.  All negotiated payment plans are handled on a case by case basis and parents are responsible for contacting Randy Condit well in advance of the payment due date to make arrangements.

Highlands Performance Volleyball does not provide fund-raising programs; however, we do not discourage the possibility of exploring fund-raising opportunities.  Any and all fund-raising activities must be pre-approved by the club directors and all income and expenses must flow through Highlands Performance Volleyball.
Coming together is a beginning,
staying together is progress,
and working together is success.

Team Practices
Attendance at all practices is the expectation for Highlands Performance Volleyball team members.

Team practices begin in mid-November, shortly after tryouts are completed and are based on age and level of the team.  Generally #1 teams (13s and older) will practice 3 times per week throughout the season consisting of 2 week nights and one weekend practice.  Exceptions are during January - April when multi-day tournaments may preclude a weekend practice. Our #2 teams will practice twice per week throughout the season.

Additional skill training for setters and other positional training and/or conditioning may be added to the schedule as well.

Exceptions may be considered for the multi-sport athlete.  Please contact club director with questions.
Our policies are created to emphasize the commitment to team and individual player development focusing on optimal team performance at national qualifying events and other major tournaments.  Our policies are designed to ensure an outstanding club experience for all involved.  Within the commited team environment is the context for excellent player development and the format to measure progress toward realistic individual and team goals.
